Chief Financial Officer | Series D Fintech | New York
The Client:
Harmonic Finance is proud to be working with a highly ambitious and fast-scaling Series D fintech business, generating approximately $300 million in annual revenue with a global workforce of several hundred people. The company is backed by prominent VC and growth equity investors and has developed a proprietary financial technology platform serving a broad and growing international client base. As a recognised leader within its category, the business has delivered strong, consistent growth and continues to build momentum across new geographies, products and strategic partnerships.
As the company enters an exciting new phase of global scale and operational complexity, they are looking to appoint an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team. The incoming CFO will play a pivotal role in defining financial strategy, enhancing operational infrastructure, and serving as a close strategic partner to the CEO and Board as the business pursues its long-term value creation ambitions.
The Role:
The CFO will sit at the centre of the senior leadership team, with a direct reporting line to the CEO. The role calls for a seasoned fintech finance executive who combines strategic thinking with genuine operational depth. The CFO will ensure that finance functions as a true commercial enabler across the business, working in close partnership with the wider C-suite, leading engagement with the Board and investors, and managing key external relationships.
Beyond financial strategy, the CFO will take full ownership of the company's financial operations, governance and risk frameworks. This spans FP&A, financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, regulatory compliance, capital planning, and building the systems and talent infrastructure needed to sustain international growth. A strong grasp of financial leadership within regulated, high-growth fintech businesses will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the CEO and Board to shape and drive the company's long-term growth and value creation strategy
- Take full ownership of FP&A, encompassing financial modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis and budgeting
- Serve as an accountable and visible member of the leadership team, leading Board reporting and investor relations
- Deliver timely, accurate and commercially meaningful financial reporting across all reporting cycles
- Own financial performance management, proactively identifying risks, opportunities and key commercial drivers
- Establish and maintain strong financial controls, governance structures and scalable finance infrastructure
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, tax and accounting obligations across all jurisdictions of operation
- Lead enterprise-wide risk management including audit, treasury, insurance and capital structure
- Attract, develop and retain a high-calibre global finance team
- Manage key external relationships including investors, banking partners, auditors and professional advisors
- Maintain full oversight of day-to-day finance operations
- Champion best-in-class cash flow management, forecasting discipline and capital allocation
- Build a commercially integrated finance function that acts as a genuine partner to Product, Growth, Risk and Operations
What We Need to See:
- Qualified accountant or investment banking background
- Substantial senior finance leadership experience within high-growth, venture-backed or PE-backed environments
- Clear track record of building and scaling finance functions in complex, rapidly evolving businesses
- Strong stakeholder management capability with the presence and gravitas to engage effectively at Board and investor level
- Sharp commercial acumen and proven experience developing and executing long-term financial strategy
- Thorough understanding of financial controls, governance and regulatory frameworks
- A collaborative, hands-on leader who leads from the front when the situation demands it
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical audiences
What We Would Like to See:
- Senior finance leadership within fintech, payments, neobanking or financial services technology
- Experience working across regulated, multi-jurisdictional business environments
- Familiarity with complex unit economics, large-scale revenue operations and international growth
- Prior exposure to top-tier VC or growth equity investor relationships
